History

      Petersburg Obstetrics & Gynecology Associates, L.T.D. was founded in 1950 by Dr. William S. Grizzard, Sr.  Dr. Grizzard was the first board certified obstetrician in the Tri City area.  Dr. Francis R. Payne, Jr. joined Dr. Grizzard in 1953 after he was discharged from the Army at Fort Lee.  Dr. Charles H. Moseley, Jr. joined the practice in 1963 after his discharge from the Navy.  In 1970, Dr. Edward E. Ruhnke, Jr. was discharged from the Army and joined the practice.  Dr. William S. Grizzard, Jr. completed his residency at M.C.V. in 1984 and joined the group at that time.  Dr. Grizzard, Sr. and Dr. Payne stopped practicing obstetrics in 1984 and retired altogether in 1987.  Dr. Moseley stopped practicing obstetrics in 1987 and retired completely in 1998. Dr. Charles W. Smith, III joined the practice in 1989 after completing his residency at the University of South Carolina.  Dr. Tracey N. Jones joined the practice in 1994 after completing her residency at M.C.V.  Dr. Ruhnke stopped practicing obstetrics in 1998 but continued to practice gynecology and infertility until fully retiring on 6/29/01.  Dr. Keith Roberts joined the practice in July, 2000 after completing his residency at M.C.V.

     The practice moved into our new office in October 1998, and since we were no longer in Petersburg, we changed our name!
